The Magnifying Glass

Maiya and I made a chocolate cake today while Mason was at preschool. I also finally had time to sit and post an entry here of a story I've been wanting to share about my daughter. She's a sharp little girl, you know! Mason, Maiya and I were in the car headed to a dentist appointment and they had their backpacks packed with things to keep them busy while I had my teeth checked. En route, one of Maiya's flip flops fell to the floor and she was quite upset. She sits on the passenger side of the car, so I can turn my head and see her. She was pleading with me to get her shoe. I tried to explain that I couldn't get it while I was driving, and she was getting upset.

I said, "Maiya, I can't even see where your shoe fell! You'll have to wait until we stop at the dentist then I will get your shoe for you."

I could hear her sobbing. I think maybe she thought she would be left behind if she didn't have her shoes on.

Soon I heard, "Mommy! Now can you see my shoe?"

I glanced back and in one hand was her open backpack and in the other hand she was holding her magnifying glass and pointing it toward the floor! She was really trying to help me to "see" her shoe!

What a great story! I can't believe how beautiful and curly your sweet girl's hair is! I love it!
