Mason's 4 Day Birthday Celebration

We did lots of celebrating for Mason's 8th birthday this year.  His birthday fell on a Wednesday.  He got to choose the family evening meal which was cheese pizza and cinnamon bread sticks.

Dad surprised Mason with a new skid steer.  Mason had been telling Matt he wanted this white one.  It's just like the one Matt used at the KSU feedyard.

On Thursday, Mason got a trip to Wichita with just Mom and Dad.  We stopped at his favorite place to "eat"...Krispy Kreme.

Mason's smile has been looking a little funny lately.  His top two front teeth were loose at the same time.  He never wants to wiggle his loose teeth and help them to come out. He prefers to wait until the new tooth comes in and actually pushes the baby tooth out.  Saturday morning, that last front tooth finally fell out when Mason was caught by surprise by a friend's dog.  He's not sure how it actually came out and he truly lost the tooth.  We never found it.  (Maiya did the same thing last winter!)

Mason had a difficult time deciding on a birthday theme.  He really wanted an Angry Birds party; but also a basketball party.  We talked him into a basketball party and he had a great time.  He invited a few of his friends but also a few high school students.  We watch a lot of basketball, and Mason learned the names of some players and followed them every game.  Two of them he kept cheering for during track season as well.  They are all good kids and they were willing to spend an hour and a half of their Saturday at Mason's basketball birthday party.

The kids had already played basketball for about 40 minutes before we brought out the cake.  They were all sweaty and tired.  Mason's hairdo below is from wiping sweat off his face.  (I think we do our job as the parents who host parties ~ we make sure the kids are wore out when they leave!)
