Spring Break 2013

I strategically planned my doctor appointments so we could spend five days in Colorado over spring break.  We did a lot of shopping, and of course, one whole day was filled with my doctor appointments and tests, but we also we able to get the kids on skis for the first time.  It snowed the entire time we were on the mountain - up to 12 inches in some places.  It was difficult to walk through (especially in ski boots!) so I spent the day in the lodge.  I wasn't able to get out and take pics of the kids while they were in ski school.

I took this one through the lodge window at the beginning of their lessons.  They didn't have their skis on yet, but had to carry them.  It was pretty rough walking through all that fresh powder in ski boots and carrying skis.

Lessons went well.  Mason's morning session was kind of rough, but after some food and hot chocolate, he was up for the afternoon session.  Maiya did well and really enjoyed skiing.  Matt spent the day on the other side of the mountain and quickly realized how out of shape it is! Skiing is so much fun, but it's also very physically demanding.  Matt planned to ski with the kids for the last hour of the day, but everyone was ready to get inside and stay warm!  I was able to take a couple pics of Matt and Mason.  Mason's lessons ended before Maiya and I missed her coming into the lodge so I never did get a pic of her on her skis.

Yes, we had five days together in Colorado and these were the only pictures I took!  I had high hopes for videos from the slopes, too, but maybe next time!  Our trip included the Bass Pro Shop, American Girl Doll Store, Park Meadows Mall, Flat Iron Mall, Olive Garden, Joe's Crab Shack, Buffalo Wild Wings, California Pizza Kitchen and Jim and Nick's Barbeque.  One late afternoon and evening, Matt and the kids went to visit Thayer's while I stayed at the motel to rest.  For the kids, a meal at Olive Garden, day on the slopes, American Girl Doll store and time with Chase and Ramsay, made the trip complete!

We stopped in Scott City on the way home and the kids decided they wanted to stay with Grandma Marilyn  for a few days.  Matt and I came home and had three days to enjoy a quiet house!  Matt of course had to go back to work, and I spent my time resting.  We also managed to get Maiya's room painted and were able to surprise her when she came home.
