I'm thankful for...the freezer?!

The inspiration my post today? The kids' Sunday School teacher asked them today what they were thankful for. Maiya said, "My mommy." Mason said, "My freezer!" Yes, the freezer. Our son has a strange preoccupation with the freezer. His teacher asked if he liked the freezer because there was ice cream in it. I was sure this wasn't the case. He likes ice cream, but it's not his favorite. If he likes the freezer because of a food, it has to be the homemade waffles we keep in there.

I think, however, that Mason started his freezer infatuation when he wasn't quite tall enough to reach the handle for the freezer door. He makes a point several times a day of telling me, "Mom, look, I can open the freezer." And just as many times, I say, "Mason, please keep the door shut. You're letting all the cold air out!" (None of you other mothers have ever said that, have you?) It's quite funny how he's chosen his own way to measure his growth. And especially funny that this is what he's thankful for at Sunday School! I can't wait to share it with him when he's older.

After I took the picture of him and Maiya by the freezer tonight, which they were both very excited to take, Mason told me, "I love the freezer!"
