Mason and Maiya on the first day of school. It was 67 degrees out that morning! After a few quick pictures, we went back inside and had Mason change into jeans.
Maiya wanted a picture with Emma also.
We have second day pictures of backpacks.
Mason's Spider-Man backpack that he used for two years developed a large hole this summer. He was very adamant about getting an Angry Bird bag. After looking at several stores in Wichita, he finally found ONE Angry Bird backpack. I guess he wasn't the only one who wanted Angry Birds this year.
Maiya has her pink Hello Kitty backpack again. Hanging off her zipper pulls are a blue holder for anti-bacterial gel and a white Hello Kitty toy.
Mason's teacher is new to the Minneola Grade School. She has taught several years in Dodge City, but lives in Minneola and is excited to be teaching second grade here. A day in Mrs. Hornback's class is full of fun! She prefers active, hands on learning ~ just what our little guy needs! (Mason was not happy that I made him pose with his teacher.)
Maiya has Mrs. Beard for first grade. Maiya already 'knows' that First Grade is going to be 'easy.' She was able to do some of Mason's Math and Reading from last year, so she doesn't have any worries for First Grade.
On the second day of school, we were able to get the five Shelors together for a picture. This is the first year for all the cousins to be in the same school. Braegen is in Kindergarten, Maiya's in First, Mason's in Second, Quenter is in Fourth and Baily is a Freshmen.
We are looking forward to an exciting, fun year!
